Paying Tribute III

Today we pay tribute to the late Christopher Wallace, better known as Brooklyn born rapper The Notorious B.I.G. Best known for his legendary songs such as ''Mo money mo problems'' and ''Big Poppa'' but I personally love him , other than his music, for his style. His fashion sense had a bigger influence on hip hop culture than we realise. Although short lived, his career made a great impact on the styles of many other rappers around till this day.

These crazy prints on his shirts Biggie is spotted wearing here some time in '94 have been sported by the likes of  A.S.A.P Rocky

He was one of the first rappers to start rocking bathing apes and definitely lead the way for the rest of today's rappers such as Pharrell.

Biggie wears an iconic Coogi sweater. Similar colourful sweaters have been seen on the backs of rappers like Drake.

What is Biggie without his GIANNI VERSACE VINTAGE Medusa Sunglasses. This accessory became his trademark and has most recently also become a part of the styles of so many rappers today.

This specific shirt I would personally really want to have. These shirts in the 90s represented the epitome of wealth but now stand for vintage.

The Jesus Piece or pieces. If you think the Game's 'Jesus Piece' album birthed the trend, you're wrong. Biggie inspired this trend over 20 years ago.

Once again I remind everyone that your personal style is more important than any trend but learning to fuse the two is a skill.

My Kinda Guy

With the start of the new year I noticed judging by everybody's resolutions or plans that we're all on a quest of happiness. I haven't made any resolutions, because the pressure of a resolution gets to me. This year I want to better myself, every day better than the day before and maybe find love.
A question I kept getting is what is my type and unfortunately that list is so long and so vague but here is an idea of my favorite type of mens fashion.

Currently I've been obsessing over hipsters. I even went as far as starting a facebook page on Hipsters and Fashion .

I respect people that are bold enough to make fashion statements by being different or ''weird''. Not following the masses where your clothes become uniform.

When it comes to Hipsters and their fashion its the mens fashion that I'm obsessed with. Lets just say if I met one I'd want a closer look.

From the extreme hairstyles, facial hair, piercings and tattoos to their well tailored suits, bow ties, cool tees nerds and fedoras. I can't even properly express how much I love these styles.

Celebrity Hipsters and Blipsters (Black Hipsters)

Pharelle

Ryan Gosling

Kanye West

Andre 3000

Miguel

I guess until Mr. Right comes along I'll continue obsessing over these stylish celebs.

So for the rest of 2014 lets make an effort to stand out and be different by not dressing like the manikin but rather making it your own. What I do is when I shop, I ask myself how I can wear a specific item differently.  I do things like getting a bigger size, wearing it back to front , accessorizing, Wearing a dress as top or a skirt as a dress. There are no limits when it comes to fashion and you should never be afraid to try.

Lastly, another new obsession of mine

Thanks Pandu

paying tribute

This is one of my many favorite sitcoms and thought it would be more than fitting that one of my first posts would pay tribute to this awesome show.
Aired in 1990, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air stars Will Smith. He plays a street smart teen that has to move in with his mothers’ sister and her family in a mansion in Bel-Air. It basically tells a story of how Wills life constantly clashes with his relatives and this new environment.
Fashion constantly repeats itself and I never thought we’d be sporting 90’s Fashion so soon. In tribute of this legendary sitcom I reviewed the cool funky fashion in this show. Proving just how current the late 80’s to 90’s trends are right now.
